Last year I worked on a project that couldn’t be further from my usual practice, but one that I found immense pleasure in creating. It was a present for my partner, who adores nature, plants, trees and the great outdoors. She had been to an exhibition of artists books and I thought it might my nice to make her my version of an artist book, focussing on her favorite leaves and plants, inspired by our walks with the dogs, and some of the other images she had collected.

I chose to use Lino cutting as a printing tool, which to be honest, I hadn’t worked with since high school. Its a meditative process that demands time and precision and I found it a perfect antidote to the business of daily working, and the usual fast paced work I make. If you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend it!
